Back in 2019, A photo of Attila vocalist Chris Fronzak and guitarist Chris Linck kissing onstage emerged online.
At the time, it wasn’t clear whether Fronzak and Linck were just being provocative for the sake of it, or they just wanted smooch, or they were protesting against homophobia…Metal Suck’s Axl Rosenberg hoped it was for the latter reason.
The reason why Rosenberg hoped it was the latter reason is because he suggests Fronzak has a history of using homophobic slurs in both interviews and lyrics. The MetalSucks co-founder/co-editor-in-chief wrote that one way to make amends would be to show his fans that there’s nothing wrong with two guys kissing.
The band posted a photo of the band members kissing on social media, jokingly teasing a new song dubbed ‘Kisses for the Boys’. After the photo was posted, a portion of Attila’s fanbase freaked out. Fans littered the band’s comment section with bigoted comments and declarations of intent to boycott Attila.
The day after the photo was posted, Fronzak took to Twitter to shutdown the bigoted comments on the photo. Read his related tweets below:
