Goalkeeper
Genre: Pop Punk
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (PA)
How did you become a band?
We started when each of our three bands called it quits and we did a cover show together. We were all friends and after the show realized how much fun we had and decided to continue and form Goalkeeper.
Where did the name of the band originate from?
It was just a name that one of us (I believe Ryan) threw out and we all instantly agreed on it. It also helps because we had certain goals we wanted to accomplish or “keep” so it fits kind of perfectly.
Can you tell us about the band’s lineup? Who’s who?
Ryan Beebe (bass and vocals)
Marc Juliano (guitar)
Cody Ritchie (drums)
Individually, can you tell us what your favourite part about being a band is?
Collectively for all of us, it’s really about being able to write a song that we created from scratch and perform it. The fact that we’ve released songs that people enjoy enough to learn the lyrics, go wild at our shows and travel to see us is absolutely wild and we are so grateful. We’re also so grateful for the people that buy our merch.
Individually, can you tell us what the biggest misconception people have about being in a band?
I’d say we all agree that the biggest misconception is that any part of this is easy. Yes, some parts are easier and more fun than others, but even the easier stuff is still so challenging. It takes a lot of money, time, dedication, practice, and everyone needs to be on the same page all of the time otherwise you’re destined for problems.
Can you give us an overview of the band’s discography?
In 2017, we released a three song EP dubbed ‘Get Feeling’. In 2018, we released another EP called ‘Bad Times Don’t Last’ and a single titled ‘Screwdriver’. Towards the end of last month, we released our new EP ‘Life in Slow Motion’.
What sets you apart from all the other bands in the genre?
That’s always a difficult question to answer. I don’t think anything separates us except the fact that we write different songs than the other bands in our scene. Every band absolutely crushes it in Philadelphia, and we are all in this together!
Can you tell us about the band’s future plans?
Once the pandemic is controlled better, especially since our country is made up of morons who have no idea what they’re doing, we plan on getting back to touring, writing new music, and maybe even some renditions of past songs and new merch! Very much just trucking along and just doing the thing the same and trying to adjust with everything going on.
